The most historic feat of humanity would be the destruction of forests for fuel, for constructing materials and also for farming. The USA has already experienced the wave of deforestation. It contributes to the release of carbon-di-oxide in higher amounts. If the forests are allowed to regenerate then the forests would sequester carbon and that would become a part of the debate about global warming.
